2015 MICHIGAN ENERGY CODE- KNOW THE CODE! Helping the builders interpret the 2015 IECC Michigan Building Codes is what we do! We help by consulting and assisting you, the builder, to comply with the new codes. From 2X4 framing to 2X6, we can help. Determining insulation levels required and making sure the home is free of leaks and penetrations. Homes are being built tighter. The philosophy that “the home needs to breathe” is no longer valid. Now we “build them tight and build them right”. The 2015 Michigan Energy Code requires new homes to test at less than 5.0 air changes per hour (ACH). Therefore, mechanical ventilation is required to bring in fresh air with the option of conditioning it. |
HERS RATING
A Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index of a house is similar to the Miles Per Gallon (MPG) of a vehicle. The lower the HERS Index, the less energy the home will use and the better it will perform. As you can imagine, a good HERS Index can dramatically add to the marketability of the home and differentiate it from competing homes. A HERS Rating package from Absolute Green includes REScheck services, REM/Rate software diagnostics, quality assurance inspections, a blower door test, a duct blaster test (if applicable) and all documents needed to qualify for utility incentives and federal or state tax credits.
ENERGY STAR RATING
Homes with ENERGY STAR Ratings are a step above the rest in performance and energy efficiency. These homes demonstrate compliance with the ENERGY STAR standards as set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). By building ENERGY STAR you easily prove that you produce a top notch product. The typical Buyer these days is researching and looking for product differentiators and is impressed with Builders who go above and beyond. The ENERGY STAR certification shows that you care about your product, and the benefits include lower energy bills and the potential for utilizing Energy Efficient Mortgages. The EPA has mandated third party verification through the use of a HERS Rating for achieving the ENERGY STAR Certification. There are two ways to earn ENERGY STAR Certification: the prescriptive path and the performance path, when you meet with Absolute Green we will help you chose which path is right for you.
